USES OF TAPE IN EXTENSIONS

Adding length: Tape-in hair extensions are an excellent way to add length to natural hair. The tape is strategically placed along the scalp, and the extensions are attached, seamlessly blending with the existing hair. This allows individuals to achieve their desired hair length without the need for lengthy natural hair growth.

Adding volume: Thin or fine hair can lack the desired volume. Tape-in extensions come to the rescue by adding instant thickness and volume. The tape method ensures a secure attachment close to the scalp, creating a natural and voluminous look.

Adding highlights or lowlights: Tape-in extensions can also be used to incorporate highlights or lowlights into natural hair. The extensions can be pre-colored to match or contrast with the individual’s hair color. This provides the opportunity to experiment with different shades and tones, creating dimension and depth in the hair.

Providing styling options: Tape-in extensions offer flexibility when it comes to styling. They can be cut, curled, straightened, or styled in any desired way. The extensions seamlessly blend with the natural hair, allowing for creative hairstyling options to achieve various looks.

Enhancing beauty and confidence: tape-in can significantly enhance one’s beauty and confidence to create a more vibrant appearance. This can boost self-esteem and provide individuals with a greater sense of confidence in their overall look.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF TAPE-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

How to apply

Applying for tape-in hair extensions by yourself can be a bit challenging, but with the right tools and techniques, it is possible. Here are 5 steps to help you put tape-in hair extensions in your hair:

Step 1: Section your hair

  • Divide your hair about 1-2 inches above the nape of your neck, and secure the upper portion of your hair with a clip or hair tie.
  • Create a thin horizontal section at the back of your head, where you want to apply the first extension.

Step 2: Apply the extensions

  • Remove the protective backing from one side of a tape-in hair extension.
  • Align the extension with the parting and attach it to the sectioned hair about 1/4 inch away from the roots.
  • Press firmly to ensure the extension adheres securely to your hair.

Step 3: Insert the extension

  • Take another tape-in hair extension and peel off the protective coating.
  • Place the second extension squarely on top of the first, placing your natural hair between them.
  • Firmly press the two extensions together to form a tight bond.

Step 4: Repeat and complete the application

  • Release a new section of hair above the first extension, ensuring it has the same width as the extensions.
  • Insert a new tape-in hair extension between the current extensions under the new portion.
  • Repeat this procedure, section by section, until you’ve applied all of the desired extensions.

Step 5: Blend and style

  • Comb your hair gently to mix the natural and the extensions.
  • Style your hair as desired, using heat styling tools if necessary, and being careful not to damage the tape-in extensions.

How to remove

Step 1: Apply tape remover (Use a hair extension tape remover or adhesive solvent and apply it directly to the tape bond, ensuring not to get on your natural hair.)

Step 2: Let it sit  (Allow the adhesive solvent to sit and penetrate the tape bond for a few minutes, making it easier to remove.)

Step 3: Peel apart the tape (Gently separate the tape from the extension using your fingers or a fine-toothed comb, starting from the bottom and working your way up.)

Step 4: Slide out the extensions (Once the tape is separated, gently slide the extensions out of your hair. If needed, apply more adhesive solvent to help loosen the bond further.)

Step 5: Clean residue and wash hair (Remove any remaining adhesive residue using adhesive solvent on a cotton pad or cloth. Then, wash your hair with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.)

TIPS FOR SELECTING THE APPROPRIATE HAIR LENGTH

The hair length you choose depends on the texture you prefer. For straight hair, the length is measured when it naturally falls straight and lies flat. Curly hair, on the other hand, is measured in a straight position to account for its increased volume compared to the same weight of straight hair. Wavy hair falls somewhere in between, combining elements of both straight and curly textures.

HOW TO DYE AND BLEACH PROPERLY

Before starting the dye and bleach process, remember to select high-quality hair extensions with Luxury standards (L 2+, L3+). Lower-quality extensions may not be able to withstand the chemical processes involved. If possible, you only should dye them to dark color (#2, #4, #6, #8). This ensures that the hair remains silky and healthy even after a harsh chemical process.

Perform a strand test: Before dyeing or bleaching the entire set of extensions, it’s essential to perform a strand test to determine how the hair will react to the color or bleach. Cut a small section of the hair extension, apply the dye or bleach mixture, and follow the instructions to see how the hair responds.

Prepare the dye or bleach mixture: Follow the instructions provided with the hair dye or bleach product. Mix the dye or bleach powder with the developer according to the recommended ratios. Use a plastic or glass bowl and a color brush to ensure even application.

Protect the attachment area: To prevent the dye or bleach from coming into contact with the adhesive tape, protect the attachment area. You can use plastic wrap or aluminum foil to cover the top part of the extensions, leaving only the hair lengths exposed.

Apply the dye or bleach: Starting from the top of the extensions, carefully apply the dye or bleach mixture to the exposed hair lengths. Use the color brush to saturate the hair evenly, ensuring that all strands are coated. Be cautious not to apply the mixture directly onto the tape or adhesive area.

The process according to instructions: Follow the instructions provided with the dye or bleach product regarding the processing time. It’s essential to monitor the extensions closely during this time to prevent over-processing or damage. Keep in mind that the processing time may be shorter than for natural hair.

Rinse and shampoo: Once the desired color or lightness is achieved, rinse the extensions thoroughly with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Gently shampoo the extensions with a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo to remove any remaining dye or bleach residue.

Condition and hydrate: After shampooing, apply a deep conditioning treatment or a hair mask specifically formulated for colored or bleached hair extensions. Leave it on for the recommended time to restore moisture and nourishment to the hair.

Dry and style: Gently pat the extensions with a towel to remove excess water, avoiding rubbing or tugging. Allow the extensions to air dry or use a low heat setting on a blow dryer. Once it dries, you can style the extensions as desired using heat styling tools. Yet, take care to use heat-protectant products.

CARE

Brushing: Before and after each use, gently brush the extensions to remove any tangles or knots. Start from the bottom and work your way up to prevent pulling or damaging the hair.

Washing: Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water and mix in a mild shampoo. Immerse the extensions in the water and gently swish them around for a few minutes. Avoid rubbing or twisting the hair. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Conditioning: Apply a small amount of conditioner to the extensions, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Avoid applying conditioner near the roots as it can weigh down the hair. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes, then rinse well.

Drying: Gently squeeze out the excess water from the extensions using a towel. Avoid rubbing or twisting the hair, as this can cause damage. Lay the extensions flat on a towel and allow them to air dry. Avoid using heat tools like hair dryers or curling irons on bulk hair extensions.

Styling: When styling the extensions, use heat-protectant products before applying any heat. Keep the heat setting low and avoid excessive heat exposure to prevent damage. Avoid using heavy styling products, as they can weigh down the hair and make it look greasy.

Storage: Store the bulk hair extensions in a clean and dry place when not in use. You can hang them or lay them flat in a container to prevent tangling or matting. Avoid storing them in a humid environment, as it can cause the hair to become frizzy.

Maintenance: Depending on how often you wear the extensions, they may need to be reinstalled or tightened periodically. Follow the instructions provided by the stylist or manufacturer for proper maintenance and care.

Can I color these hair extensions?

Answer: Yes you can. We only recommend dying the virgin #1B color, they are completely natural and will take color easily from to 2 to 3 shades. If you need to go lighter then bleaching may be involved, in which case we would recommend you consult a professional. We do not recommend coloring hair that's already been colored. When doing any color service to the hair, perform a test strand first to see how the color processes with your formula being used. Once you confirm the results and processing time are correct than you can carry on with the full application of color desired. Keep in mind that the lighter you go it may slightly loosen the hair's natural curl pattern. This is something you can check for after completing your strand test as well.

How long will this hair last?

Answer: With proper care and maintenance, this overall product will last you at least 1 to 2 years with proper care. We have customers that have been using the same hair extensions upwards of 4 to 5 years. We recommend only using the highest quality hair extension products for maintenance.

What kind of hair are used in these?

Answer: We use 100% authentic Remy hair in all of our hair extension products. The virgin #1B color is natural, other colors are also available for purchase. The cuticle remains intact and aligned which allows the hair to be styled naturally with heat tools so it blends seamlessly with your own hair.

Are other colors available?

Answer: This product is only available in the virgin #1B color, which is a beautiful combination of off-black and dark brown.
